Fabric & Care
You deserve to know exactly what you are wearing against your skin. We will tell you everything.
Why we chose Nida
Most modest fashion brands never tell you what their fabric actually is. They write "polyester blend" in small print and hope you don't ask follow-up questions. We built our entire brand on the opposite philosophy.
Every Lebashub abaya is made from premium Korean Nida fabric — and we chose it for reasons that directly serve your life as a Muslim American woman in the US.
Nida is a woven microfibre fabric developed specifically for modest fashion. It is not an afterthought. It is not a cheap polyester. It is the result of decades of fabric engineering for exactly the requirements your wardrobe has: full opacity, breathability, drape, wrinkle resistance, and colour retention. We source ours from premium mills in South Korea via our Lahore supply chain — the same source trusted by luxury modest fashion brands in the Gulf.
What Nida actually does for you
Fully opaque — in all light conditions.
We tested ours in direct Arizona summer sunlight. No underlayer needed. No embarrassing transparency on a bright day. One layer, complete coverage, total confidence in any environment.
Wrinkle-resistant — genuinely.
Pack it in a suitcase. Wear it for 14 hours. Take it on a flight to your sister's Eid dinner. Nida returns to its original drape without an iron. This is not a marketing claim — it is a structural property of the woven microfibre.
Breathable for the American climate.
Nida is not as breathable as linen — we will not pretend otherwise. But it is significantly more breathable than standard polyester, and it wicks moisture rather than trapping it. It is comfortable in air-conditioned American summers and in heated American winters. Our Linen collection handles extreme heat — Nida handles everything else.
Drapes like silk — holds like a champion.
The weight and weave of Nida creates a fluid, elegant drape that elevates any silhouette. It does not cling. It does not bunch. It falls in the long, clean lines that make an abaya look truly beautiful — in person and in photographs.
Colour stays true.
Nida is solution-dyed, meaning the colour is built into the fibre rather than applied on top. Your black abaya stays black after 50 washes. Your sage green does not fade to grey. The colour you order is the colour you keep.
How to care for your Lebashub abaya
Nida is remarkably easy to care for. Follow these steps and your abaya will last for years.
- Machine wash cold on a gentle or delicate cycle. Nida does not need hot water — cold water cleans effectively and protects the fabric.
- Do not tumble dry. Remove from the machine promptly and hang immediately on a proper hanger. Tumble drying causes the microfibre to pill over time.
- Hang dry away from direct sunlight. Indoors or in shade is best for colour preservation.
- Iron on low heat if needed. Most of the time you will not need to — Nida's wrinkle resistance means hang drying is usually sufficient.
- Store hanging, not folded. If you store abayas folded they will develop fold lines. A proper clothes hanger preserves the shape and drape.
- Do not bleach. Ever. For stubborn stains, spot-clean with mild detergent before washing.
A note on colour accuracy
We photograph all Lebashub abayas in natural daylight on a cloudy or diffused day — the most accurate lighting condition for true colour representation. We do not use warm studio lighting that makes everything look amber. We do not use filters. What you see is what ships.
Screen calibration varies. If you want to discuss a specific colour before ordering, email us at hello@lebashub.com — we will tell you honestly whether a colour will work for your skin tone and your wardrobe.
Our sourcing promise
Our Nida fabric is sourced through Ali Bhai in Lahore, Pakistan — a supplier we know personally and trust completely. It is cut and constructed with care before travelling to our Minnesota fulfilment centre, where Bashir Sheikh and his team pack and ship every order within 48 hours.
This is not a dropship operation. Real hands touch your abaya at every stage. We know where it comes from, how it is made, and who is sending it to you. And we are proud of every step of that chain.
Questions about fabric, allergies, or specific care needs? We are a real team and we answer real emails. Reach us at hello@lebashub.com — usually within a few hours.
